Reaching out for help can be a difficult first step. New things can be hard and sometimes a little scary. Maybe you have been battling your own mental health for years. Or maybe something recently has happened and you just aren’t sure what to do next. You just know that you want something to change.

Time and personal experience has been my greatest teacher for understanding and deepening my empathy in ways that never would have happened without it. I utilize evidenced based interventions, including CBT, EMDR, DBT mindfulness skills, and solution-focused therapy.  I am an active listener who can assist you with validation, re-framing, boundaries and goal-setting. My job is to provide you with a safe space for reflection and processing with gentle guidance. I am honored by every client who takes the time in our busy world to show up for themselves.

I am an Associate Clinical Licensed Social Worker specializing in neurodiversity in adults, anxiety, depression, compassion fatigue, and LGBTQIA and perinatal challenges.  Wherever you are in your journey, I will join you in exploring the possibilities.

Amanda Galvin, LCMHC

I am a licensed clinical mental health counselor with a multi-theoretical and multi-cultural training background. As a clinician, the bulk of my experience has been trauma work serving both adults and adolescents, with an emphasis on domestic violence and sexual abuse survivors. Additionally, I have worked with adolescents and families for a variety of concerns including depression, anxiety, drug/alcohol use, and unsafe sex. As a military spouse, I am also acutely aware of the challenges facing military families both in daily life and the need for external sources of support. I have had the privilege of working with clients in Texas, Alaska, and now North Carolina.

While my approach to therapy remains person-centered, I have completed basic training in EMDR through the Shapiro Institute and have completed trainings in CBT for trauma. Sometimes, our past leads us to create family patterns, daily rituals, or mental blocks that protected us during a time of survival and are no longer serving the person we are today or the person we want to become. Whether it is through eye movements, words, art, or sand tray let's begin separating out what serves you in life now and what can be left behind.

“You can’t go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending.” – C.S. Lewis

If you’ve found yourself here, you’ve already taken the first step in making a change! Even if it may not seem monumental now, the foundation of change is often built upon small, incremental shifts, usually within ourselves. I believe your mental health is invaluable, and deserves as much consideration and care as your physical needs. When you begin to prioritize your mental health, you will often find that other aspects of your life seem less overwhelming or hopeless.

As a person-centered counselor, I offer my clients unconditional acceptance, empathetic understanding, and genuineness on my part. I aim to provide a safe, supportive, and accepting environment where clients can freely express themselves, without fear of judgment. Depending on your specific goals, we can decide to incorporate research-based counseling techniques that increase mindfulness, acceptance, and motivation, or reduce symptoms of anxiety, depression, and PTSD.

Approaches that guide my counseling style include mindfulness therapy, which works to increase self-awareness and reduce stress and anxiety, Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). MI is useful for exploring and increasing one’s motivation for change, or reducing fear or uncertainty in regard to change. CBT techniques can bring to light negative or unhelpful thoughts and reframe them into positive thoughts that promote mental well-being.

Come as you are, and we will collaborate in a way that promotes your unique strengths, personal growth, and self-acceptance.

LaShunda Mayor, LCMHC

Hi, I’m LaShunda. I’m a mental health professional dedicated to helping individuals and families navigate life’s challenges with compassion, understanding, and practical support. My work centers on creating a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients can explore their emotions, heal from stress or trauma, and rediscover their sense of balance and purpose.

I specialize in supporting children, adolescents, and adults who are managing anxiety, depression, life transitions, or family challenges. My approach integrates empathy, mindfulness, and evidence-based strategies to help clients build resilience and develop healthy coping skills. Before moving into private counseling, I served as a school counselor, assistant principal, and district-level assistant director for student support services. Those experiences taught me how to meet clients where they are, collaborate with families, and nurture both emotional growth and resilience.

My mission is to help every client discover their strengths, build resilience, and move forward with confidence and hope. I believe in helping clients recognize their inner resources, build healthy coping skills, and create meaningful change.

Whether I’m supporting a student managing anxiety, a family navigating transitions, or an adult finding their voice again, my goal is to empower each person to thrive.

Life is full of challenges. Sometimes we can handle those challenges on our own, and sometimes we need outside support—someone who can actively listen to us without judgment and with an open heart and mind. We need someone with an outside perspective who can offer insight into what makes us tick. As an Army veteran, a military spouse, and a parent, I understand the challenges that life can bring. It takes great courage to seek support, and I am honored to provide that support.

Being open, honest, and respectful are the main pillars of my approach. We must maintain trust and acceptance to develop real personal growth. The theories that I draw upon are evidence-based and proven to make a difference in therapy. I lean towards a trauma-based approach because what we experience throughout our lives impacts how we function. I am EMDR basic trained and working towards certification. I favor techniques that involve mindfulness, self-reflection, and promote self-awareness.

I have a deep love and appreciation for all people and their differences. My goal is to always ensure that you feel safe, heard, and valued. Counseling isn't always easy, but with the right support, you can become the best version of yourself.
